About
Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.
- Karl Marx, Contribution to Critique of Hegel’s Philosophy of Right, 1843
The Opiate of the Masses
The Opiate of the Masses was started as a Blogspot.com blog back in 2005 as a place for me to work on my writing. Now after a hiatus of almost a year I am returning to the blogosphere as part of a larger goal to get more writing done. While I am a geek bordering on nerd and much of the content here will be deeply geeky, I will never restrict myself to one corner of geekdom; my interests are too varied. I am always looking for that new take on things and wondering where we are going to go next. I hope you enjoy what you find and come back often!
Your Humble Host
While I play an opinionated jackass on the internet if you ever meet me in real life you’ll find I am a pretty nice guy. I am a published poet and screenwriter and a, according to some, somewhat talented photographer. Should you feel the need to e-stalk me (and if you do I am flattered, really) you can find me on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace (though I hardly EVER check there these days), Flickr, and IMDB. Of course you can always contact me directly at james(at)the-opiate(dot)com.
